A Look At Google AdSense

Let’s have a look at Google AdSense and see how it fits in with Google AdWords.

If you use Google AdWords, your paid ads will be displayed on the search results page of Google when your keywords are entered into Google search box by the user. These ads also get displayed on other people’s websites that mention a similar product or use a lot of the same keywords. You can chose to turn this option on/off within your AdWords account.

So what does AdSense offer?

If you have your own website and the ads are placed on your webpage, AdSense for content will have look over your page (crawl) and display ads that are relevant to the content of your webpage.

Why would you want to put links to someone elses site? Each time a user clicks these ads YOU get paid. It may be only a few cents, but imagine if your website had a lot of traffic?

You can also add a Google search box on your page and use it to search your website or search the internet. Users that search the web through YOUR search box will get a page with search results. Anytime these website links on the search results page are clicked on – guess waht? Thats right. YOU get paid!

You have the ability to change the appearance of the ads that will be displayed on your website so they reflect your colours and style of your site. The search box and results page can also be altered to blend into your sites style.

Do I Need To Be A Web designer To Use AdSense?

First up you create an account. Once it is approved, login to your account and set up your ad unit (more details on how to do this in another post). Copy and paste a block of HTML code into your website (it’s not that scary – trust me!). Make as many ads as you like. There are a variety of styles to select from. You’re welcome to place ads on any accepted site. Here’s some more information >>>

If you are worried that you may be sending potential customers away then you can customize which ads are displayed (and which are not).

Still writing – more soon :)

How To Add A Comment In My Blog !

I have had a few inquiries about how to add a comment to this blog. Thank you for wanting to add a comment – I am genuinely interested in your feedback and internet marketing tips and tricks!

What Is A Comment?

A comment is when a reader of a blog post wants to have their say. It could be that you agree with the author and want to leave your thanks. Perhaps you disagree completely an want to state our case. Maybe you have something valuable to add tho the blog post or a link to another site that has more information. There are many reasons you may want to leave a comment so lets have a look at how to do just that.

You must be logged in to leave a comment on this website. Some site will let anyone leave a comment but I have found it to be a great way in for spammers. Spammers are people who leave comments on lots of blogs leavening a link to their website – usually Viagra and the like.

How to Login To My Blog

Click the link named login – see image below.

How To Add A Comment

So now you are logged in and on the main page of the website. The next step is to find the blog post (article) that you want to add comment to. Once you are looking at the post, scroll down to where it says ‘add comment’ or if you are the first one to comment it will say ‘no comments’. Click the link and you will see the a place where you can enter your comment. See image below.

You should now see a page with the following on it.

Enter your comment and click ’submit’.

If all goes well you will see confirmation that your comment has been submitted.

The first time you leave a comment, I will be sent an email asking me to accept or deny it. Once the first comment ia accepted, all your following comments will be automatically accepted.

I hope this was helpful. I will be looking more at Google AdSense tomorrow – a way to make money by displaying Google adds.

Hello Internet Marketing World – Here I Come!

Hello to the world of internet marketing and infinite possibilities. If you can think it, somehow, someone, somewhere can manifest it!

My goal here is to share internet marketing secrets that have been shared with me at seminars, from friends and other internet marketers. I have collected tips and tricks along my journey into the world of internet marketing. Would you like to know what I have discovered on this journey? Stick around, I plan to share all I know as well as the constantly new information I gather in the process.

Today is my first post. I plan to post everyday for 30 days. It would be great if other internet marketing experts want to get on board and share one of their secrets. Link back to your site and consider it a Win Win situation?!?! If we all pool our knowledge together then every person with the desire can be financially comfortable in these times of economic strife. There really is enough money in the world for all of us – so please don’t be greedy and hoarding of knowledge. Empower your fellow traveler and you will empower yourself also.

So what’s my tip for today? Google.

Familiarise yourself with Google’s advertising options >>>

Make yourself a FREE account with AdWords and AdSense. You will need an email account with Google called gmail. ‘What are these’ I hear you cry? Too much geekness ……

But wait – before you start running, you should know it’s not that hard. No, really!

Let’s start with AdWords first. A fantastic option to get seen on the first page of Google instantly – most of the time >>>

Basically it’s like advertising in the trading post, local or national newspaper and usually they work out much cheaper. You create ads and choose keywords which are words or phrases related to your business (more about keywords in a later post). That sounds easy, right? The bonus is that, for no extra money, you can have global exposure or precise local exposure to the extent of running ads at certain times of the day.

Who gets to see these ads?

Well, when people do a Google search and use one of your keywords, your ad may appear next to the search results. So what does this tell us? You are marketing to an audience that are searching for YOUR product, services etc. Sounding good so far?

So what if you already have a first page ranking with Google? Or even coming up number one? If so, congratulations, please share how you did it and you will be known as the Google Guru!  But, for the mere mortals as well as the gurus among us, Google also has an advertising network which displays your ads on other peoples websites that have relevant information to your products (this is how AdSense fits in – but more about that later).

Let’s face it, not many of us get it right the first time around. It will take some tweaking and playing around with different ads and keywords. One of the best features (okay – there are a lot of best features) is the ability to manage your budget and account settings. Can you do this with printed versions of your ads – for example, an ad in the newspaper? Probably not! In your account settings you can decide how much you want to spend each day and how much per click. Per click is the amount you will be charged by Google every time someone clicks your add. This can be as little as $0.10. So if no clicks = no cost. What printed media offers that? And these settings can be changed whenever you get the urge.

‘All very well’ I hear you say, but how do you know where to start and what amount and the right keywords? Well, Google is constantly improving their services and provide keyword traffic (but as I said earlier- more about the world of keywords later) and cost estimates. This helps you make an informed decision about keyword choices and get the most out of your budget.

Here is where you can start playing with keywords and estimated cost per click right now >>>

You’re charged only if someone clicks your ad, not when your ad is displayed. How cool is that?

Payment options do vary by country and currency >>>

Hey, and let’s not forget about Google maps. Who’s ever wondered where that restaurant is you planned to meet was? Or where the hotel is that you’re supposed to be staying at (after all, you are loaded now – ok, loaded with knowledge – but if you apply it, you could be loaded with cash!) Google Maps are great for finding places which means other people finding you! Getting better all the time !

Ok, so I have bombarded you with information. Now let’s have a look at what you have just read.

I hope you enjoyed my first post. Tomorrow I want to talk about Google AdSense and how it can make you money – that’s gotta be a good thing.

In the meantime, don’t be shy – leave me a comment. Let me know any areas you want me to focus on? And most importantly, have fun!
